Huolenpidon, ylläpidon ja korjaamisen käsitteet ovat erottamaton osa elämän kiertokulkua. Juuri tässä järjestyksessä ne edustavat tiettyä vastarintaa rappeutumista vastaan ja siten myös kestävyyttä.

Ehdotettu näyttely kutsuu katsojaa pohtimaan tätä huolenpidon teemaa Elämänpuun kerronnan kautta – elämän ja kestävyyden arkkityypin avulla. Tämän käsitteen tarina on yhtä lailla universaali kuin myös paikallinen, ja siten maailmanlaajuisesti merkityksellinen. Elämänpuu on toistuva motiivi useissa mytologisissa ja historiallisissa kansanperinteen kertomuksissa, ja se on löytänyt keskeisen paikan kollektiivisessa ihmismuistissa. Näyttely saa muotonsa kahden ajatuksen yhdistymisestä – elämänpuu motiivina ja elämänpuu ideana.

Suuret paperi- ja / tai kangasarkit riippuvat katosta verhojen tavoin. Ne luovat useita tiloja, joista yksi toimii sisäänkäyntinä installaatioon. Kerroksellinen rakenne luo eristäytyneen tilan, synnyttäen alueita, joita voi tutkia ja tarkastella, mutta myös tiloja, jotka täytyy kuvitella.

The concept of care, maintenance and repair is intrinsic to the cycle of life. In that specific sequence, the triad represents a certain resistance to decay and thereby, resilience.

The proposed exhibit invites the viewer to dwell on this aspect of care through the language of the Tree of Life – an archetype of life and resilience. The narrative behind this concept is as universal as it is local and is consequently globally pertinent. As a recurring motif in several mythological and historical chronicles of the vernacular, it has found a central place in collective human memory. The exhibit derives its form through the intertwining of two strands of thought – tree of life as a motif and tree of life as an idea.

Large paper or textile sheets are hung from the ceiling in a curtain-like manner. They create multiple enclosures, one of which acts as the entrance way in to the installation. The layered structure creates a place of disconnection, and gives birth to spaces which can be visited and studied, but also spaces which must be purely imagined.
